GUITAR TEACHING

I learned to play guitar when I was 17 at my neighbor's house. She taught two of us at once. Because I was pretty competitive I enjoyed practicing hard so that I could do better than the other student as I sat and sang songs in my teacher's living room. When I began my senior year I asked my counselor if he thought I could ever teach guitar. Before I knew what was happening, he had the community education counselor in the room and I was the new community guitar instructor!! It was sink or swim and I didn't like sinking.

I've been teaching beginning to intermediate guitar lessons off and on for nearly 34 years now and I've loved it. I have taught students from age 7 - 68. I teach from my home in Murray. I offer private lessons as well as group lessons. Students learn notes, chords, strums, picking and tablature using Mastering the Guitar by Mike Christiansen.

Since I believe that it is important for students to learn songs they enjoy, we use the internet to find favorite songs then incorporate them into our lessons.

So, if you are thinking about pluckin and strumin and having a good time, you've come to the right place.

If I have more than one child can I bring other children to your home while I wait for the half hour lesson?
Yes.  I’m a grandma and have a toy room that our children are welcome to use during lessontime.
