I am not an expert on medication, however, many have asked if there are supplements they can try before going the route of medication or use with the medication they are presently taking. This tab is dedicated to collecting data you can evaluate on your own with your physician or psychiatrist.

Medication vs. Supplements and Other Natural Methods of Recovering from Depression
Many people, including myself, would rather only a natural approach to recovering from depression but this is not always possible. My “Quick Ideas to Beat the Blues” list has many natural methods to handle depression, however, when our neurotransmitters are malfunctioning those methods may not be enough as explained in my Q&A section http://www.patriciapotts.com/Q&A.html. Sometimes we either need a jump start or in some cases, like me, we need to continue taking medication for life.
My purpose in including this tab is so that we can share with each other ideas that work and ideas that don’t work.
Medication
The biggest “ideas that don’t work” I heard came from a woman who ended up in serious trouble with the law because the medication she was taking caused her to become angry and violent. She said “The medicine I took works well for many but it made me crazy! I wish I would have asked my family to pay strict attention to me when I’m beginning a new med. I also wish I would have paid more attention myself to the anxiety and anger that filled me and worked with my psychiatrist to change it. Much heartache could have been avoided.”
One idea I believe in whole heartedly is to ask others to pray for you during your psychiatrists visit. With so many meds to choose from our Doctors can use all the divine direction they can get!
